Make time to study your finances......
People pursue an education in order to secure a good career and therefore their financial future. But many overlook putting in the foundation blocks to building that future now...
Being a student is stressful enough, hours of study, pressure from teachers and expectations from parents. One other major stress on students is cash flow. Not everyone is lucky enough to have affluent parents willing to fund you while you pursue an education. Student loans are an option that most young people opt for, and although these are very useful, they are without doubt a very long term affair. One thing that is lacking in our education system is a real drive to teach students on how to effectively handle money. College will teach you how to get the qualifications for a high salary job but wont teach you how to handle your new found income. In the article below are a few suggestions on how to learn to handle money now on a limited scale before the large salarys you aspire to come into your life.

Learning to save small before earning big...
A savings account is without doubt the first thing you should get. As a student, funds are limited and its hard enough to make ends meet as it is. But believe me, if you can learn the discipline of saving when you have very little money, you WILL be in a far better position to avoid getting into bad spending habits when you start earning a large salary and will inevitably have a far wealthier and easier life in the long run. No matter how small your income is, if you can get into the habit of saving 10% or even 5% of your income you are actually doing far better than a lot of the adults in this country. If you get used to living pay check to pay check, its going to be a hard habit to shake once you start earning a salary. People find the greatest amount of reasons to justify to themselves why they cant save. But even cutting down on a coffee habit or a junk food lunch routine can save you a hell of a lot of money. A savings account can be opened up for very little money and once you are in the habit of saving, it really becomes a routine and you will benefit greatly from it all through your life.

Building a history before you need it..
Building your credit history during your student years is a phenomenal choice that few people choose to do. Although student incomes are usually not that high, its still possible to start credit history by using prepaid credit cards. A prepaid credit card will allow you to start building points and a payment history. It will also help you to build "money discipline" with regards to making scheduled payments and making responsible purchase decisions.
